1. South carpathians - muddy volcanoes (code: SCV)
The Other side of the Carpathians
This tour can be done by motorbikes (KTM's especially or enduro ones), ATV's or jeeps. Not available for buses. This area is famous for the muddy volcanoes.
Day 1 |

Departure from Bucharest (OPT) airport to Buzau (about 3 hours driving). Dinner and accommodation in 3* hotel. |

Day 2 |
|
Breakfast at your hotel. Depart for Policiori to see the natural phenomena from muddy volanoes unique in Europe. Cross the hills to Cislau to visit the second largest stud farm from Romania.
Arrive in Siriu by Siriu lake, accommodate in a 3 * hotel.

Day 3 |
|
Breakfast at your hotel. Cross the mountains to Penteleu peak (1774 m high) with one of the best panoramic views in the country. This is an easy forest road.
Crossing the Vrancea mountains from east to west getting into the heart of Hungarian county. From Penteleu pick via Comandau to Covasna (Kovaszna) famous for the mineral waters, using a quite difficult road. Visit in Kovaszna, the Devil' s pond, the town's symbol and also one of the technical wonders unique in Europe located on the Fairy valley (a railway from 1892 built on a inclined plain)
Dinner and accommodation Covasna in a 3 or 4* hotel. |

Day 4 |
|
Breakfast at your hotel. Depart from Kovaszna to Intorsura Buzaului, the point in Romania with the lowest temperature taking the forest roads.
Intorsura Buzaului – Brasov in 40 kilometers with stops at Harman and Prejmer to visit the fortified churches listed Unesco.
Dinner and accommodation in Brasov. |
Day 5 |

After breakfast depart for Sinaia to visit the Peles Palace and going down on the national road to Comarnic where you will drive out of the national road to Slanic, nick-named the Salt Mountain with the largest sault mine in Europe. Visit the mine.
Go on to Bozioru village very famous for the caves digged in the mountains by the first Christian missionaries that crossed this side of Danube to bring Christianity from Far East.

Breakfast in the guesthouse. Depart for Bisoca to enter in the natural reservation, famous for its special green color.
Depart for Plavatu to have a special hunting dinner at Plavatu rural guesthouse with accommodation.

Breakfast at Plavatu. Depart for Bucharest. |

2. Southern Carpathians (code: SOC)
Take the Transalpina road, the highest road in Romania getting at 2200 m altitude. If the Transfagarasan is quoted with 9 for adventure and mistery, Transalpina has 10 plus. This road is mainly for jeeps.

Departure from Bucharest (OTP airport) to Polovragi (3 and ½ hours drive). Accommodation in rural gueshouse 3*. |

Day 2 |
|
Breakfast at the guesthouse. . Visit the Horezu Monastery (1 hour) listed on Unesco heritage list, the Polovragi cave (2 hours), drive along the Oltet river into Retezat Massif (6 hours) famous for its glacier lakes, visit Valea cu Pesti lake. Accommodation in Campul lui Neag Chalet.

Day 3 |

Breakfast at Campu lui Neag Chalet. Drive deep into the Retezat massive, visit the Alunii Negri cave the largest in Romania, pass Obarsia Lotrului and stop at Vidra lake located at 1289 m altitude, pass the Urdele pass at 2228 m high. Drive along the Olt valley to Sibiu. Accommodation in 3*. |

Breakfast at the hotel. Take the Transfagarasan road down to Curtea de Arges and cut the mountain’s up to Dambovicioara gorges. Accommodation in Bran 3* hotel. |
Day 5 |
|
Breakfast in Bran hotel.Visit the Bran Castle. Departure to Sinaia via Rasnov and visit Rasnov fortress. Visit Peles Castle (2 hours). Drive deep into the Bucegi massive to Hotel Pesterea (4 hours drive, 1600 meters above the level sea). Accommodation in Hotel Pestera. |

Breakfast in Hotel Pestera. Drive to Bucharest (5 hours).
