RESTAURANTS
We are not here to discuss again about gastronomy, we have a different section for that, but, to try to advice you and offer you some tips on Romanian restaurants.
Each and every taste can be satisfied in the restaurants from Romania. International and national cuisine can be found as a mix in a single restaurant or specific ones.
Depending on the restaurant, the prices vary between 10 Euros and 30 Euros for a 3 -course menu without alcohol drinks.
The Bucharest restaurants, caffees, pubs and more appeared like mushrooms after rain, but, during the hot summer days and nights it seems they are not enough, because, if you want to be sure you have a table, you need to make a pre -booking. The same with the restaurants in main cities and towns.
As I told you in the gastronomy section, the local restaurants may impress your tastes in a positive way and in Bucharest you can find good ones. I know that some of you, our guests, may want also to watch a traditional Romanian folklore show, but, unfortunately, there are only few that offer you this visual delight, such as:
Caru cu Bere
Restaurant Pescarus
Terasa Doamnei
As far as for the restaurants from the cities, towns and resorts, most of them serve traditional Romanian cuisine and a very good thing for their customers is that some of the restaurants from the countryside do use organic food provided by their own farms. One of the most famous known for its fresh, homemade food is Coliba Haiducilor restaurant (the Outlaw's hut) http://www.colibahaiducilor.com/ located in Poiana Brasov resort, pretty close to Bucharest ( about 180 km driving ).
Another enhancement for the customer's senses is the restaurant belonging to the Casa Husarului rural guesthouse located in Covasna county where you can taste also the Hungarian cuisine.
There are a lot of examples like those mentioned above , but, we know that not all the time the traveler planned on his itinerary this kind of restaurants, therefore, our advice is to usually try the most crowded restaurants which means that the food is fresh and you avoid some health problems.
One general conclusion for the Romanian restaurants: the tips are not included on the bill and they usually represent 10% of what you consumed. At some of them the menus are in English, and the waiters do understand English.
Bon appetit!
